Frank Tagliano (Steve Van Zandt) es un miembro de la mafia italiana de Nueva York que delata a su jefe y pasa a formar parte del programa de protección de testigos. Para empezar su nueva vida elige Lilyhammer, un pequeño pueblo de Noruega, pero lo que parecía a priori un retiro tranquilo y calmado pronto deja de serlo.
