A série gira em torno dos cirurgiões plásticos Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) e Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), amigos e sócios de uma importante clínica de cirurgia plástica que mudam para o outro lado do país, deixando a ensolarada Miami para viver em meio ao glamour de Hollywood. Sean e Christian, cuja tarefa é contribuir para que seus pacientes encontrem paz de espírito através de procedimentos estéticos, conhecem bem de perto os louros da fama. Ambos vivem a crise dos 40 e embora seus pacientes tentem mascarar seus problemas realizando cirurgias plásticas, são eles que na verdade escondem uma vida repleta de angústia, infelicidade e desilusão. Sean e Christian questionam ter muito pouco diante de uma prosperidade que parecia ter oferecido tudo.
